In Once Human base building Human players need to unlock a lot of crafting recipes called memetics, which can be picked up using meme points and energy links. Players can get 4 meme points each time they level up, and energy links can be obtained by completing challenges, quests, and other activities throughout the season.

The best memetics players can unlock are directly related to their character's progression, so we have put a list of the ones they need to unlock first to unlock more gear, tools, vehicles, weapons, and advanced construction.

Updated on October 22, 2024, by Lucas Simons: A new season began with Way Of Winter, and the new map has introduced the Hypothermia mechanic to the game. This also means new Memetics need to be unlocked first since there are new Gear to craft and useful consumables needed for Cold Weather Expeditions. To simplify things, we've updated the order in which these need to be acquired to manage a good Cypher balance between crucial unlocks and Quality Of Life unlockables that are also needed to progress further down the main quest. Needless to say, there's no need to unlock all these in the specific order, but keep an eye out for the Polar Expedition I and Leatherworking, since these are much needed in the new run of Once Human. Some of the key Memetics have been reduced both in Cypher cost and Energy Link cost, so we've also updated those specific details.

The Disassembly Bench can be obtained by unlocking the Disassembly Techniques memetic at level 1. This should be the first thing players need to unlock if they want to progress further in Once Human . Each time players go to loot, they'll find "scrap items," or "junk" that they can take back to their base and process into salvaged materials.

Several materials like Metallic Fiber and Refined Parts can only be obtained by using the Disassembly Bench , and they'll need them for intermediate and advanced crafting. So, it's easy to say that this memetic is the key to everything in the game.

Polar Expedition I unlocks the recipes for Thermoium, Heatium, and Coldium, made with Gravel, so they're pretty cheap. Keeping Thermoium in the backpack will provide Tier 1 Cold Resistance, but the item only lasts for an hour. Similar to backpack mods, these stones will regulate temperature in certain weathers, and since these are keys during Way Of Winter, adventuring without one will only lead to certain death.

Further ahead, when unlocking Polar Expedition II, players will be able to craft a Portable Lantern and Chaosium to fuel it. This gear is crafted in the Intermediate Supplies Station and uses Chaosium to provide lasting heat, more so than Thermoium. Unlock this Memetic line as fast as possible.

As we already mentioned, Leatherworking will enable players to craft Leather and Advanced Leather further on. Hunting animals has become key in Way of Winter because the fur provides a steady source of Leather to craft cold resistance Gear.

This means players will need tons of Salt too, so Cooking Station will provide the required Recipes to refine Salt, which is crafted using Sea Water and Wood in the Stoves. Sea Water can be collected from any source near the coast, but a closeby area for low-level players will be Whalebones Town, down the Fishing Port.

Unlocking Bronze Crafting will be players' first step towards advancing Tiers. Bronze can be made with Tin and Copper , and to mine Tin, players will need at least a Copper Pickaxe . Then they can go ahead and unlock the Bronze Pickaxe from the Stage 2 Infrastructure line.

Once Human Events players get their hands on a Bronze Pickaxe , they will be able to mine Iron, and from there, they can pretty much keep scaling and unlocking new tools as they see fit. Remember other players in the Hive can help them craft better tools and boost their Tier scaling speed.

The Gear Bench will allow players to craft up to Tier 2 weapons and armor, but to keep improving they will eventually need to unlock the Intermediate Gear Bench. This will let them craft up to Tier V Epic quality gear. Players will need the Advanced Gear Bench for Legendary Gear though.

The Intermediate Gear Bench requires Vanadium Crystals to be crafted, which can be found in most level 20-25 zones. Remember to keep their eyes peeled for other ingredients such as scrap, Acid , Gunpowder , and Fireproof Plastic . Of course, to do that they'll need a Disassembly Bench and a lot of Storage Space to keep their valuable materials safe.

Unlocking the Synthesis Bench will grant access to explosive (throwable) crafting, which players will need to beat the harshest (and most rewarding challenges in the game), and also allows them to synthesize Staroid , a key material they can use in advanced crafting and events .

Once players have unlocked the Synthesis Bench , make sure to farm lots of Acid and Gunpowder , as they will need them to craft most of the explosives available in this Bench. Players can unlock more explosive recipes by investing in the Explosive Throwables memetic using 5 meme points and 700 Energy Link.

Most of the intermediate and advanced base facilities will require energy to operate. From the Electric Smelter to the Containment Units, all of them need power to run smoothly. So, the first thing players need to do when they have meme points and Energy Link to spare is to invest in the Solar Generator memetic.

This will unlock Solar Panels, which can be built using 15 Steel Ingot , 8 Copper Ingot , 5 Glass , 4 Refined Parts , 4 Fireproof Plastic , 8 Electronic Parts , and 3 Fuse . Players can get most of the materials by farming, but Fuses need to be crafted in the Supplies Bench using 5 Copper, 2 Glass, and 10 Metal Scrap. Once they have built their Solar Panels, they can connect them to the facilities by attaching wires to them from the building mode--a similar system to that of Fallout 4.

If players want to get to know every nook and cranny of Nalcott ( Once Human map), they need to unlock the Garage to craft their first vehicle: The Street Motorcycle. To do that, players should unlock the Garage memetic using 2 meme points and 100 Energy Link. Building their first vehicle (Bike) will allow them to explore faster, and of course, to gather resources more effectively.

After they build their first Bike, players will be wondering what to do next. Well, the next thing they should do is unlock its Modifications by spending 3 additional meme points and 200 Energy Link. Modifications allow them to improve their vehicles through the Garage Panel, and improve their handling, speed, fuel consumption, and capacity.

Cooking is an important part of Once Human events Human since players need to keep steady levels of hydration and energy to make their character perform at its best. The basic food and water will keep them fed and hydrated but will provide no further benefits. The better the food and drink they consume, the more benefits they gain.

So it is important to unlock Dishes 2 and the Advanced Cooking station as soon as possible, so players can gain access to Blue and Purple food recipes, which grant considerable buffs like boosted HP, Stamina, Sanity Recovery, PSI power, and more. If they have the Chefosaurus Deviant in their base , cooking becomes easier.

These powerful weapons might be expensive at first, and their ammo is hard to craft, but the long-term rewards are worth investing in. Players need an Intermediate Gear Bench to craft these beauties.
